Technology Meets Heritage at Uruguay’s 12th Robotics Olympiad

The twelfth edition of Uruguay’s Robotics, Programming and Video Games Olympiad is bringing together participants from more than 500 educational institutions. Organized by Plan Ceibal, the public program aimed at promoting digital inclusion, this year’s event sets a new participation record with over 1,660 teams, 680 teachers and 540 schools.

Under the theme “Treasures of the Past,” primary and secondary students present projects and take part in challenges that explore how technology can help preserve history, culture and heritage, while addressing issues in their communities through creative, computational thinking.

The Olympiad features a mixed format, with virtual stages held in schools across the country and a final in-person event at the Antel Arena, a state-of-the-art multifunctional venue.
