The authorities of The International Parliament of Education presented a new project called La Virgen Peregrina to the business community in The Woodlands, Texas. This project aims to work For the Unity and Peace of Migrants, a program that promotes bicultural relations on both sides of the border.
Thirty business leaders attended the meeting, where they enjoyed the lecture “The Key of Guadalupe,” delivered by Dr. Arturo Rocha, an expert in the semiotics of the Ayate of San Juan Diego. Monsignor Diego Monroy Ponce, General Coordinator of Pastoral Affairs and Representative of the Collegial Chapter of Guadalupe to the Mexican Episcopate, also shared with the attendees the importance of the project for the current Rector of the Basilica of Guadalupe, Monsignor Efraín Hernández Díaz.
The Organizing Committee of La Virgen Peregrina is composed of authorities from the Basilica, as well as businessman Martín Achirica Ramos, Sara Jaime Chao from the Ing. Rogelio Jaime Coria Foundation, and the President of The International Parliament of Education, Luis Ruiz Guerrero.
The goal is to bring a sculpture by renowned artist Jorge Ismael Rodríguez, who has crafted a large piece to bring pilgrims closer to the venerated image. Attendees expressed their appreciation upon learning that migrants have been included in the initiative to share a message of peace and unity through their traditions and cultures.
La Virgen Peregrina will begin its tour from December 2 to 8, 2024, at the San Gabriel Mission in Los Angeles, California. In 2025, the tour is planned to visit Houston, San Antonio, Chicago, Atlanta, New York, Phoenix, and other cities, with a possible presentation in the Philippines.
